As the Heroman family continued to seek new ways of approaching the florist business, I decided in June 2002 that is was time for me to step out on my own. My vision was to create a store with unique designs and creativity in the floral, gift and decorative accessory industry.
I was very fortunate to have the help and support of friends and family and several former employees to be able to open in November 2002 with two gift showrooms, complete with design centers and a full scale landscape division.
Our store in the Bocage Village Shopping Center Courtyard gave us the opportunity to expand in several related industry lines that I had long been interested in doing, such as a complete Bridal Registry department, home furnishings and accessories. Since the beginning we have sought to bring unique decorative
lines to the Baton Rouge area. Our Bridal Registry includes Waterford, Lenox, Gorham, Reed and Barton, Towle Silver, Spode, Royal Worchester, Royal Daulton, Lynne Chase, Mottahedah, Vicki Carroll, Vietri, Onieda, International Silver, Fitz and Floyd, Arthur Court, Wilton Armetale, Beverly Clark, Oliver Weber jewelry, and much more.........The Bocage courtyard also gave us the opportunity to expand our fountains, outdoor and indoor pottery, lighting and accessory displays to give our customers that "one stop shopping for all you indoor and outdoor garden and needs........."
It didn't take long for our concept to catch on! We outgrew our space at Bocage Villiage and relocated to our present store right across the street in Towne Centre in September 2005. Our massive showroom gave me the opportunity to offer a larger variety of furniture, decorative accessories and gifts from around the world to satisfy our customer's every wish. We are located facing Jefferson Highway at the Lobdell intersection behind Whole Foods Market.
Of course, nothing surpasses the joy of being able to continue working with the beauty and elegance of God's creation of flowers and plants and using them to accent the beauty of individuals home furnishings and outdoor landscaping. I was fortunate to be able to add a florist business with a 44 years of family tradition to my Baton Rouge store by purchasing Edrie's Florist in Denham Springs, La. Along with the talented team of designers I have worked with for many years, we added several more years of design staff experience to give us
over 150 total years of professional design experience. Our staff is proud of their work in
making our clients Dreams become a Reality everyday in from the smallest flower arrangement to the largest parties and weddings. Our plan is to continue the growth and expansion of all aspects of Rickey Heroman's in all areas of operation.
